Meet the Whittier Team Behind Topside Attic Insulation Whittier
We’re the crew that shows up in your driveway with a blower door, a camera, and a written scope already in your inbox. Every tech on this page has pulled fiberglass out of a Whittier attic in July, crawled through a crawl space in South Whittier after rain, and sat with a homeowner to explain why the number on the report matters. What ties us together is simple: we don’t start work without a written price, and we don’t leave without a photo record and, when it applies, before-and-after blower-door numbers you can read yourself.
Our People
Wes Okafor, Owner
I started in this trade in 2016 after watching a crew blow insulation over unsealed top plates in a La Habra Heights home and realizing the homeowner would never know they’d paid for half a job. That became the foundation of how we operate: seal first, insulate second, document everything. I still carry a blower door on my truck and run the initial assessment on most Whittier jobs myself, because the CFM50 reading before we start sets the benchmark for everything that follows. When I’m not in attics, I’m usually arguing with my spreadsheet about material costs or fishing the San Gabriel River with my two boys, who have learned to identify R-value from the packaging in my garage.
Marcus T., Lead Technician
Marcus has been running crews since 2019, and he’s the reason our attic cleanouts don’t turn into two-week projects. He’s certified in spray-foam application through Icynene and Demilec, but his real specialty is reading a joist bay and knowing whether the existing insulation is salvageable or whether we’re looking at rodent damage that needs full removal. He grew up in Pico Rivera, so he knows which Whittier neighborhoods built in the 1950s have the original knob-and-tube still live in the walls, and he’ll flag it before we blow anything new. Off the job, he restores vintage Honda motorcycles and has a running bet with the crew about which will finish first: his current CB350 project or his daughter’s college fund.
Diana R., Senior Installer
Diana handles our blown-in and batt installations, and she’s particular about density, which is why our R-30 jobs actually test at R-30 rather than settling to R-22 six months later. She came to us from commercial HVAC in 2020 and brought with her a habit of photographing every bay before and after, a practice we adopted crew-wide. She’s the one who noticed that certain Owens Corning batts were underperforming in Whittier’s summer heat compared to Rockwool alternatives, data that changed our default spec for south-facing attics. Diana lives in East Whittier, grows tomatoes that she claims are “competition grade,” and has never once been seen without a tape measure clipped to her belt.
Javier L., Service Coordinator
Javier is who you talk to when you call (424) 349-7262, and he’s who makes sure Wes has your blower-door baseline, your photo history, and your written scope before the truck leaves the shop. He’s been with us since 2021, and he came from dispatching for a plumbing outfit, so he’s unshakable about scheduling and unapologetic about calling if we’re running behind. He tracks every job’s documentation in our system, which means when you call back in year two with a question about your radiant barrier, he has the install photos and the CFM50 numbers in under two minutes. Javier is from Whittier proper, plays in a salsa band most Friday nights, and has a whiteboard in his office covered in what he calls “the math of not overbooking.”
Tyler K., Apprentice
Tyler joined us in 2024 after completing a weatherization program at Rio Hondo College, and he’s currently working toward his BPI Building Analyst certification. Right now he’s shadowing Marcus on air-sealing detail work, learning to spot thermal bypasses around chimney chases and dropped soffits that most crews miss. He’s the one who asks the questions that remind the rest of us to explain what we’re doing to the homeowner, not just to each other. Tyler grew up in Santa Fe Springs, lives with his grandparents in South Whittier, and has developed an unexpected expertise in identifying the entry patterns of roof rats, which he documents with the same precision he applies to his training log.
One Standard, Every Job

Topside Attic Insulation Whittier is independently owned and operated under The Haven Standard, the same operating framework that governs nine other building-envelope companies across California. What that means on your job is that Wes holds the same obligations as every other Haven Standard operator: a written price before any work starts, a 365-Day Done Right Promise backed by that written scope, and a Documented Photo Record delivered when the crew leaves. The materials come from the same suppliers, Owens Corning to Rockwool to Icynene, so there’s no proprietary lock-in forcing a product that doesn’t fit your home. And when we publish your before-and-after blower-door numbers, they’re measured the same way, with the same equipment calibration, as every other Haven Standard job in the state. The crew changes by city. The standard doesn’t.
